This DIY project is not only family-friendly, it will also bring the birds to your backyard garden.
Step 1: Clip foliage from existing backyard plants such as Oakland™ Holly, Yewtopia® Plum Yew, Purple Daydream® Loropetalum, Miss Lemon™ Abelia, and Jubilation™ Gardenia. Allow your clippings to soak in a large bowl of water overnight.
Step 2: Gather supplies.
Step 3: Spray select pieces of foliage with metallic paint.
Step 4: Cover pine cones with peanut butter.
Step 5: Roll peanut butter-covered pine cones in bird seed.
Tip: Place pine cone in fridge for one hour to harden.
Step 6: Arrange foliage and tie together. Using a second knot, tie in mini ornaments. Leave extra string for tying to pinecone.
Tip: Remove foliage from the bottom areas of clipped stems for easy tying.
Step 7: Attach your arrangement to the top of your pine cone.
Step 8: Hang in a tree for both a decorative and yummy treat for birds in your area!
